55th ANNIVERSARY CLASS REUNION NEWS UPDATE – MAY 2026

The Zoom meeting with Greta Wolcott of the Gallaudet Alumni Office, Lance, and Helena was held on April 28, 2026.

UPDATES

The 55th anniversary class reunion registration will be sent out to all ‘71ers by the staff at Ole Jim on Monday, May 4th. 

Three ways to register are: 
  1. Online Registration (RegFox is the name of program.) 
  2. Printed Form in PDF format (request only through Greta or Helena) 
  3. Registration assistance by calling Greta at 202-920-6262 videophone or email at greta.wolcott@gallaudet.edu

KCC Hotel Room Rates:

Single/Doubles:  $210 + 15.95% tax/fees = $243.50 per night – breakfast included 
Triple/Quad:  $260 + 15.95% tax/fees = $301.21 per night – breakfast included 

Other hotel options will also appear on online registration: 
  • The Courtyard by Marriott (1325 Second St., NE) 
  • 10% discount - Nell Hotel (411 New York Ave., NE) – cheapest of all and near the campus 
  • Homewood Suites by Hilton (501 New York Ave., NE) – breakfast and shuttles included 
  • On your own such as AirBnB, etc.

55+ anniversary luncheon; Campus tour; some interesting presentations such as: 
  • “Gallaudet Future Projects” Presentation by Richard Dougherty, the executive director of Architecture and Facilities Management 
  • “Annual Alumni vs. Students” by Jesse Saunders, a lecturer of Physical Education and Recreation
  • “Veditz Debate: My Time is Better than Yours” by Brendan Stern of the Center for Democracy in Deaf America 

Evening: 
Class of 1971 dinner (complimentary for ‘71ers from the Class of 1971 Treasury) 
Pep Rally; Alumni Bash with performers, Beethoven’s Nightmare (Steve Longo, Ed Chevy and Bob Hiltermann)   

Saturday, October 17:  

Afternoon:  
Class parade; football game and other events 

Evening:  
55+ anniversary farewell dinner

Departure
