 How many ‘71ers?

One of you asked me how many classmates we have had... I had been trying to get the official count.  When I was at Karen Olson, the late Leslie Milam Zinza's partner's home, I found Leslie's "Gallaudet College: Catalogue, 1966" and read it through.  It has the statistics! So I emailed the Gallaudet Archives for the annual report from 1967-1972.

Prep Year: 233 (98 girls and 135 boys); total undergraduate students on campus: 872.

(Gallaudet College Catalogue, 1967-68, p.92)

Note: (About 50 were admitted to Frosh according to one '70er)

Frosh Year: 269 (115 girls; 154 boys; 50 of them were new students); total undergraduate students on campus: 968

(Gallaudet College Catalogue, 1968-69, p.92)

Soph Year: 146 (74 girls; 72 boys); total undergraduate students on campus: 982

(Gallaudet College Catalogue, 1969-70, p.94)

Junior Year: 135 (68 girls and 67 boys); total undergraduate students on campus: 1021

(Gallaudet College Annual Report, 1969-70, p.22)

Senior Year: 114 (59 girls and 55 boys); total undergraduate students on campus: 1051

(Office of the Registrar, June 30, 1971)

Additional Information: Unofficial Count

Class of 1971 Commencement Booklet

124 received degrees (86 from Class of 1971 (51 girls; 35 boys); 24 from different classes; 14 absentia)

Class of 1972 Commencement Booklet

31 from Class of 1971 (8 girls; 23 boys) received degrees in 1972.

Now another question we do not know so far:

How many of our classmates returned and completed their degrees - what they were called "Never Too Late" students.
